Rainy Day Lunching

Black Sleeveless Shirt Dress

Shirt Dress $48, Side Cross Bracelet $20, Gold Arrow Cuff $16

Shirt dresses are pretty perfect in the summer.  So easy to throw one on and go.  I love the cut out details on the front and back of this one we currently have in stock.  I snapped some pics before heading out to Hendersonville for lunch with my family.

My great Aunt Helen flew in for a visit from Chicago. This woman is 90 years old and looks amazing! She has so much energy and a great attitude. If anybody knows a few things about living a great life it’s her! We always have such a great time when she comes in for a visit. It was beautiful in Nashville so I took Aunt Helen and the rest of the gang to The Rudder, a restaurant on Old Hickory Lake.In keeping with a crazy Nashville Spring it started raining cats and dogs as soon as we sat down. Despite the deluge, we still had a nice time visiting and catching up with one another.

Side note for any local peeps the food at The Rudder was awful. I would say this is more a fun place to go on your boat and enjoy being on the lake verses grabbing a bite to eat.

Nautical

Navy and white striped blouse Navy & White Striped Blouse $32

Nautical inspired pieces are so popular right now.  I am loving our Navy & White nautical blouse.  The blouse is sheer fabric so I am wearing a nude cami under. I kept it simple paring with white jeans (a summer staple!) but this blouse would be great paired with pink or red skinnies.

Every Wednesday my girlfriends and I meet at Cino De Mayo for a mid week catch up.  It’s nice to be able to grab dinner and drinks somewhere low key where we always know we won’t have to wait for a table. It also helps that Wednesday’s are 1/2 price margaritas! I am extremely grateful for the friends I have in my life and I love that we make it a point to find time for each other each week despite all of our busy schedules, especially since everyone appeases me by always agreeing to mexican food!

New Obsession: Spray Tans

Mint Green Open Back Dress Mint Green Dress $52, Jewel Statement Necklace $32

I have to share with you guys my latest guilty pleasure, spray tans!  The spring weather here in Nashville has been anything but warm. We typically have pretty nice weather starting in March but it’s been cold and unpredictable the last few months leaving me yearning for sunshine and a tan.  I decided to get a spray tan a couple months back so I could have a little color for Nashville Fashion Week and have since been wishing I could get one every week!!  Anyway, I popped in to Sun Tan City for a tan last week and thought I would share my tips:)

1.  I went to Sun Tan City because they offer your first visit free between Sunday and Wednesday.  This allowed me to try it out and decide if I even liked the color.  I would recommend using the free visit to figure out the coloring before getting one for an event.

2.  Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!!!  I made the mistake of not doing this the first time and my tan didn’t go on too evenly or last as long as it does when I exfoliate.  I ended up buying an exfoliator and primer reccomened by the girl at Sun Tan City and these both helped a lot on my next visit!  I obviously used the exfoliator at home but brought the primer with me and applied it right before being sprayed down!

4.  Don’t shower the first day.  This one is really challenging for me because I hate having product on and not being able to wash it off. The girl at Sun Tan City told me this trick and I ignored her thinking it was gross and wouldn’t matter.  My second tan I decided to give it a try and it made the tan last a lot longer!

5.  Moisturize everyday.  I tend to be pretty lazy at taking the time to apply lotion after I shower but this really helps to make your tan last.

6.  What I did:  They allow you to customize you tan and I went with the lightest shade as I am pretty pale!  I choose to have the clear solution as opposed to the tinted solution that gives you an immediate tan.  I wasn’t immediately going anywhere that I wanted to be tan for and didn’t want to risk the tinted solution getting on my clothing.  The last choice is if you want the color more red or more bronze.  I assumed bronze would be the way to go as I didn’t want to look burned but for my skin coloring that actually gave me more of an orange look as the red option left me with a natural golden looking tan.  Again take advantage of that FREE visit and play around with what works for you!

I hope my tanning tips are helpful! Below are some outfit pics showing off my spray tan!  I am loving our “Mint Julep” dress – I’m such a sucker for anything with an open back. Mint Green Open Back DressMint Green Open Back DressMint Green Open Back Dress Purple and mint jewel statement necklace

Colorado Part 2.

Black and white chevron print dress Chevron Print Dress $54, Jewel Statement Necklace $32

Like I mentioned in my last post, we spent the past weekend out in Colorado for a wedding.  The weather all weekend was absolutely gorgeous – both the church and reception venues were both tucked away up in the mountains with unbelievable views.  Below are some photos of the family and I at the reception venue.

I mean this was out of control!sleeper houseIn between the wedding and the reception we took a little detour to find this space ship house!  We noticed it on our drive up to the wedding.  My father in law was determined to find it and do a little drive by for a closer look.  Low and behold we were able track it down on Google Maps and then drive there.  We ignored the private drive sign and just kept on winding down the long drive until we were sadly turned away by another gated drive.  I was totally against this idea the whole time but it did end up leaving us all laughing. I later googled the house and discovered that it was used in the 1973 Wood Allen movie, Sleeper, and has also made Forbes list of most ugly mansions!

This past weekend the hubby and I accompanied his side of the family out to the mountains of Colorado for his cousin’s wedding.  We left Thursday and spent that evening and most of the afternoon Friday exploring Boulder.  We shopped around the Pearl Street Mall and ate at an awesome restaurant on Pearl St. called The Kitchen. We then headed to Golden, CO, where all the wedding festivities were taking place.  Golden is a quaint little town about 30 min West of Denver.  We had a great time poking in and out of little shops along the main drag.  After shopping everyone piled in the car to head up the mountain and take in the amazing views and check out Buffalo Bill’s burial site at the very top of the mountain.  (SIDE NOTE — I found out yesterday from my Dad that this might not be his actual burial site!  Apparently Colorado and Wyoming have been arguing for years both claiming to have Buffalo Bill’s remains.  Pretty crazy! )

Orange Oversized Summer Cardigan Orange Cardigan $56, St. Tropez Necklace $32, Bracelets One $18  & Two $16

I am loving our Orange Sherbet Cardigan, the longer length makes it the perfect sweater to throw on for the cooler summer nights.  This sweater has been a staple in my wardrobe lately as the weather hasn’t quite decided if it wants to stay warm or cold bouncing back and forth every few days!  It usually just lives in my car so I can grab it on the go as needed.

Time To Celebrate

Black Sheer Cross BlouseBlack Sheer Cross Print Blouse $28, Necklace $32, Gold Cuff $24

This past weekend my girlfriends and I got together to celebrate our friend Lindsey’s 30th b-day!  The weather here finally decided to play nice, and I was one happy girl!  We headed out to Urban Grub to dine and kick off the b-day night. The atompherse was super cool and sleek, but the food was really nothing to write home about.  I will say though if you’re looking for a spot for a large group, this is your place!  They were so nice and patient to accommodate a party of 16! Could not have asked for better service.

Nashville Fashion Week
Friday night marked the end of Nashville Fashion Week’s runway shows.  The designers of the evening were Abi Ferrin, SAND, Lagi Nadeau, and Leona.I was already very familiar with Leon’s line and loved all her looks but the real surprise for me was SAND’S menswear line. Definitely my favorite of the evening! Just like each night before it the venue was beautifully decorated and softly lit. The shows were wonderful and it was so nice and encouraging to see the Nashville fashion community come together and celebrate fashion!

Below are pictures of my outfit and some runway shots from the four designers showcased that evening!
