That’s A Wrap

Nashville Fashion Week
Friday night marked the end of Nashville Fashion Week’s runway shows.  The designers of the evening were Abi Ferrin, SAND, Lagi Nadeau, and Leona.I was already very familiar with Leon’s line and loved all her looks but the real surprise for me was SAND’S menswear line. Definitely my favorite of the evening! Just like each night before it the venue was beautifully decorated and softly lit. The shows were wonderful and it was so nice and encouraging to see the Nashville fashion community come together and celebrate fashion!

Below are pictures of my outfit and some runway shots from the four designers showcased that evening!

Fringe and Lace Night of Shopping

Hey everyone, it’s Louisa! Last Thursday Fringe and Lace had its first open house. We opened the doors of our office space for local Nashvillians to shop through sale items and the newer Spring collection as well. This being one of my first events as an intern, and Fringe and Lace’s first open house, I was excited to see how it would turn out. The event was a huge success. There was wine and other refreshments and Stephanie was our dj for the night! I really enjoyed the experience of helping to plan the event and then watch it pan out successfully before my eyes. Here are some of my favorite photos from the night:

(That’s Stephanie and me!)

We had guests from Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, and plenty of fashionable ladies from the Nashville area come to shop. With such a great turnout, we’re thinking of having one of these every month so our local customers can come try on the merchandise and see the clothes in person!

Wavy Hair Tutorial with a Twist

Happy Wednesday everyone. This is Stephanie, one of Fringe and Lace’s interns this semester.

Since the weather is going to be heating up soon, I thought I would do a fun beachy hair tutorial with a side braid. You can do this hairstyle on freshly washed or second day hair. I love to do it on second day hair because my hair can get a little oily in the front, and the side braid conceals any grease that may have built up during the day.

This hairstyle can be worn any time of year and with any outfit, but I personally prefer to rock it during the warmer months with a dress and sandals. Now, I know that many of you freak out when it comes to hairstyles, but there is no need to worry because my tutorial is simple and fail proof. My hair naturally has some wave to it, but it doesn’t matter how long, what color, or what texture your hair is because this hairstyle will look great on everyone. I have received many compliments when I style my hair this way, and once you learn how to do it, I am sure you will receive the same recognition. So whithout further ado, lets go through the basic steps of this hair tutorial.

Washed and Unstyled Hair

Once I have washed my hair,  I put in two pumps of Aveda’s smooth infusion and a couple of drops of Ojon’s damage reverse instant restorative hair repair serum. These products are perfect for hair that has any kind of texture because they are smoothing but also prevented that unwanted frizz. I will then blow-dry my hair halfway and leave the rest to air dry, which will leave me with slightly wavy hair.

Conair Conical WandStyling Products

Next, I start curling my hair with the infiniti conical wand by Conair. I love this clampless curler because it makes really natural looking waves, which are perfect for this beachy hairstyle. I will usually clip my hair up and do the underneath section first, and then I will keep letting sections down until my entire head is curled. I will usually spray each section with a bit of hairspray after it has been curled, but this is not necessary. I leave the front two pieces on either side uncurled because this is the hair that I will use to make the braid. I normally braid the hair to the right side of my head but that is a personal preference, and you can do whichever one suits you the best. I will then secure the braid with two bobbi pins and do a  light spritz of hairspray just to ensure that the curls don’t droop and everything stays in place. I am currently using the Moroccanoil luminous hairspray, which is perfect for this hair tutorial. It doesn’t leave your hair stiff, but it has great hold and leaves your hair shiny.

This hairstyle is simple but cute, and the best part is that anyone can wear it. I love this beachy hair because there is no way that you can mess up, and it will look as though you spent a long time doing your hair, when in reality, it will probably take you ten to fifteen minutes. If you tend to be very one dimensional with your hair, then I highly recommend trying this hairstyle for the upcoming months. It is the finishing touch to any outfit, and before you walk out the door in your latest spring dress, spend ten minutes doing your hair. You will receive a ton of compliments and will look stylish and very trendy this spring.

More Dots, Please

Blue Polk A Dot SweaterSweater $58 $40, Gold Spike Bracelet $14, Red & Blue Jewel Stone Bracelet $18

I am loving this light weight polk a dot sweater!  Polk a dots have been such a popular trend lately so I was very glad to come across this fun sweater.   I am such a fan of the bell bottom sleeves they are great to show off bracelets.  This sweater also works well layered with a button up blouse.  I have worn it before with a plaid button up shirt layered underneath and loved the different prints together.
